Body-safe
Definition
A loose label for a material that will not leach chemicals and can be cleaned fully. In practice, the trusted body-safe materials are silicone, glass, stainless steel, hard ABS plastic and sealed wood.
Why it matters when you shop
'Body-safe' is not regulated, so anyone can print it on a box. Look for the named material instead. If the material is not named, or it is a soft rubbery toy at a very low price, assume it is porous.
